We arrive in Trichy, and after finding a hotel room head straight for the The Rock Fort Temple complex. This actually has three temples, the Manikka Vinayakar at the foot of the hill, the Taayumaanavar Koyil Shivastalam on the hill, and the Uchhi Pillayar Koyil at the top.

Lots of steps to climb, but you get interesting views of the city. You can see how the river is totally dried up.

We then jump on a bus to the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple complex at Srirangam just north of Trichy.

It is 2½ sq km large and houses 21 gopurams. Here we are on the rooftop.

We already found the Rock fort temple steps very hot, and barefoot on the temple rooftops was unbearable! Thats what you get for wearing shoes all year round. The locals find our hopping about quite amusing.
